The great thing about the way the Internet is structured is that you don't have to remember the number to a web site*. Instead, you remember the website's name. There is, however, an unfortunate thing that happens when you try to announce a web site address on the radio, or give it over the telephone, or what have you.

Due to the accident I wrote about recently, my wife and I have had the unfortunate "fun" of buying a car to replace the one recently lost. Hint: It's not fun.

The other day, I mentioned that my wife had been in a car accident, and deriding the sort of logic that pervades the insurance industry. I find it no accident that the father in The Incredibles had his secret identity as an insurance CSR, just for the comic effect.

The LA Times is reporting that a loaded handgun fell out of a duffel bag as that bag was being loaded into an airplane at LAX airport. Granted, this gun was not on board in the passenger compartment of the plane, but let's take this a step at a time, shall we?

The recent Occupy Wall Street protests have some people scratching their heads wondering what they are about. I get what they are about, make no mistake, but the problem is that they aren't about any one thing. Everyone there has a voice in what it is about. Just as a mental exercise, I figured I would put down what my thoughts are.

My wife got into a car accident yesterday. It seems an inexperienced driver driving an overly large vehicle in an unfamiliar city changed lanes in such a way as to cut her off. Naturally, she swerved to miss them, and hit a fire hydrant and a pole.

Too often, it happens that we see people doing something fun, and think it might be fun to do that too. It doesn't matter what: address a crowd, dress like a clown, jump in a fountain, sing at a karaoke bar, whatever. That's not what's important. What is important is that we deny ourselves that activity because we're afraid.

Our local NPR station, WAMC, is in fundraising mode again. As much as I enjoy the programming and (to the chagrin of some) actually like the political commentaries of their CEO, I think they've missed a couple of important things in the way that they run their fundraisers.
