The other day, I mentioned that my wife had been in a car accident, and deriding the sort of logic that pervades the insurance industry. I find it no accident that the father in The Incredibles had his secret identity as an insurance CSR, just for the comic effect.

Never mind that, here's the latest: We have rental coverage. The car was totalled, so they are paying for a rental for my wife to get around in the mean time.

Since it was totalled, they need the title and key. They gave me an address to which to send it. "Well," I said, "That's right around the corner! I could speed the process along by just walking there."

"Yeah, you could," the adjuster told me, "but if you mail it, I can give you a longer rental coverage. Otherwise, it cuts off when we cut the cheque, not when you tell us you get it."
